Happy Birthday Michael

Michael had worked the night before and added a few hours overtime to his evening.  As he didn't get home until 02:00 we let him sleep in before we did the gifts in bed.
Kira planned well in advance and had seen this card that "we must have for dad!"
She had also spent time in the craft room creating this collection of cards and a gift tag.

Lachlan wasn't quite so well prepared and whipped this card up the night before!

Supplies: SU Beware Pirates Stamp; Spellbinders die; PTI number dies; SU cardstock and a piece of very old scrapbook paper from the bottom of a draw!

Friendship Bread

Friendship Bread

by

Thank you Terri for lending this to me.  You are a true friend (Book #1 for me for 2013).
An utterly delicious tale of sisterhood and forgiveness in a small town so endearing, you won't want to leave. One afternoon, Julia Evarts and her five-year-old daughter, Gracie, arrive home to find an unexpected gift on the front porch: a homemade loaf of Amish Friendship Bread and a simple note: I hope you enjoy it. Also included are a bag of starter, instructions on how to make the bread herself, and a request to share it with others. Still reeling from a personal tragedy that left her estranged from the sister who was once her best friend, Julia remains at a loss as to how to move on with her life. She'd just as soon toss the anonymous gift, but to make Gracie happy, she agrees to bake the bread. When Julia meets two newcomers to the small town of Avalon, she sparks a connection by offering them her extra bread starter. Widow Madeline Davis is struggling to keep her tea salon afloat while Hannah Wang de Brisay, a famed concert cellist, is at a crossroads, her career and marriage having come to an abrupt end. In the warm kitchen of Madeline's tea salon, the three women forge a friendship that will change their lives forever. In no time, everyone in Avalon is baking Amish Friendship Bread. But even as the town unites for a benevolent cause and Julia becomes ever closer to her new friends, she realises the profound necessity of confronting the painful past she shares with her sister. FRIENDSHIP BREAD is a celebration of life, loss, friendship and the power of belonging.

Musicians

Kira was delighted to collect her school flute and embark on her instrumental music program.  Lachlan got his trumpet out and they had a wee jam session with each other.
I may post a video later in the year, but for now a still photo is best :)

Creativity

Happy Birthday Taylah

Kira and I made this for the day care family daughter.

 Sewing creation

I was having trouble distinguishing my pantyhose from the socks, so I made this for my lingerie draw.

School Starts 2013

Kira started back to school first on 29 January into Grade 5.

Lachlan starts high school this year in Grade 8. We chose a private school, so his dress code has taken a more formal approach.

This is the day we collected the new uniform. He was very taken aback by the 'walk socks'.  The hat wasn't available, so he had to wait until his first day to collect that.

Here is my wee boy ready for his first day.
I went to work and fortunately Michael drove him, as the roads were flooded.

This is the street where his bus stop is (submerged) . . .
and this is the school oval!

Here he is in his sports uniform (worn every Thursday) and with his hat on.

Wet Chooks

The rain resulted in significant flooding in the Ipswich and Brisbane areas.  The poor chooks coop was awash as well, so they were invited up to the back patio.

When the rain had stopped they needed to dry themselves off :)

Rock Climbing

25 January

While Michael slept the kids and I were planning an outing to Southbank.  However it had been raining for a few days and we thought that it would be better to find an indoor activity.  So we headed to Rocksports.

Here we are al harnessed up

I run through the safety check with Lachlan before he heads up the wall.

They both enjoyed their climbs and were very very brave.

Celebrating our 14th Wedding Anniversary

17 January

The kids spent the night on a sleep over with our Easter camping friends. Then we had a sleep over at Jupiters Casino on the Gold Coast. We had anice meal in one of the many restaurants then headed to the Tap Dogs show.  Which was very energetic and super entertaining.
